Failure Symptoms

The most common symptom of a failing filter cup bowl is the presence of water in the fuel warning light activating, or visible water accumulation in the bowl. If the bowl or its seal is cracked, it can lead to air entering the fuel system, causing intermittent engine stalling or rough running. A compromised seal can also allow unfiltered contaminants to bypass the separation process, potentially damaging the fuel injection system.

Installation Tip

Ensure the sealing surface on both the bowl and the filter head is clean and free of any debris before assembly. Do not use excessive force when tightening the bowl, as this can crack the plastic.

Service Note

Always drain any accumulated water from the filter cup bowl regularly, and inspect the O-ring seal for wear or damage when performing maintenance.
