Bulldozer-specific components: Bulldozers have unique structural and drivetrain components not found on excavators — blade assemblies (straight, angle, and U-blades), push arms, c-frames, tilt cylinders, drawbars, ripper assemblies, and straight-frame structures. These components absorb enormous pushing and ripping forces in rock-breaking and earthmoving operations.

Blade wear and maintenance: The cutting edge and end bits on a dozer blade are primary wear items, designed to be replaced before the structural blade steel wears. In hard rock ripping, cutting edges may need replacement every 400–600 hours. Edge bolts and hardware should be torqued to specification — loose edges cause uneven wear and can be a safety hazard.

Ripper maintenance: Single-shank and multi-shank rippers take enormous point loading in rock fragmentation. Replace ripper tips when worn to 50% — a worn tip causes point protection (the shank itself) to begin wearing, requiring much more expensive shank or beam replacement. Check shank retainer pins every 250 hours.

Track frame and final drive: Dozer final drives are high-torque, high-stress components. Inspect final drive oil level weekly and change oil at OEM intervals. Metal particles in final drive oil are an early warning of ring and pinion or planetary wear — act before secondary damage occurs. Final drive repair costs in India range ₹2–6 lakh, making early intervention critical.
