Surface-specific wear rates: Rocky quarry conditions wear undercarriage 3–4× faster than soft ground. Sharp rock (granite, basalt) cuts through track shoe rubber and gouges link rails. For quarry operation, triple-grouser or rock shoes are recommended over standard single-grouser. Abrasive sandy soil accelerates roller seal failure.
