Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A clogged spin-on filter may initially cause a slight increase in fluid temperature or a warning light on the dashboard. If left unaddressed, it can lead to insufficient lubrication or fuel flow, causing increased wear on engine or transmission components. The worst-case scenario is potential component seizure due to lack of lubrication or fuel starvation.

Installation Tip

Lubricate the rubber gasket on the new filter with a light coat of clean oil before installation to ensure a proper seal. Hand-tighten the filter until the gasket makes contact, then tighten an additional 3/4 to 1 full turn.

Service Note

Inspect the fluid level and condition, and check for any leaks around the filter housing when replacing the spin-on filter element.
