Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A clogged air filter element typically first manifests as a reduction in engine power and responsiveness. Prolonged operation with a severely restricted filter can cause premature wear on engine internals.

Installation Tip

Before installing the new element, thoroughly clean the inside of the air cleaner housing to remove any accumulated dust or debris. Ensure the new element seats correctly and the housing is sealed tightly.
