Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

The first sign of a clogged air filter is often a noticeable reduction in engine power or responsiveness. As it becomes more restricted, fuel efficiency will decrease, and black smoke may appear in the exhaust. Continued operation with a severely clogged filter can lead to increased internal engine wear and potential overheating.

Installation Tip

Always clean the inside of the air filter housing thoroughly before installing the new element to prevent any debris from being drawn into the engine. Ensure the new filter seats correctly and the seal is properly engaged.

Inspect the intake manifold and turbocharger (if equipped) for any signs of oil or soot buildup when replacing the air filter.
