Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A clogged air cleaner element will first manifest as a gradual loss of engine power and potentially increased fuel consumption. If left unaddressed, excessive soot may appear in the exhaust, and internal engine components can suffer accelerated wear from ingested contaminants.

Installation Tip

Before installing a new element, thoroughly clean the inside of the air cleaner housing to remove any accumulated dust. Ensure the new element's seals seat properly to prevent unfiltered air bypass.

Inspect the intake manifold and turbocharger for any signs of oil or carbon buildup, which could indicate a pre-existing air restriction issue.
