Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

An initial symptom of a failing air filter element is a gradual reduction in engine power and responsiveness. If the filter becomes excessively clogged or damaged, it can lead to increased soot buildup in the exhaust and higher fuel consumption. The most critical risk is allowing abrasive particles into the engine cylinders, causing accelerated wear on pistons, rings, and cylinder walls.

Installation Tip

Before installing the new element, thoroughly clean the inside of the air cleaner housing to remove any accumulated dust or debris. Ensure the new element is seated correctly and the clamps are securely fastened to prevent air leaks.

Service Note

Inspect the intake manifold and turbocharger (if equipped) for any signs of oil or carbon buildup when replacing the air filter element.
