CATBearing & Bushing

1541203 Main Bearing Set — Cat 216 216B

This is a set of main bearings designed to support the crankshaft within the engine block, ensuring precise alignment and minimal friction during operation. Manufactured to meet stringent OEM material and dimensional specifications, they provide optimal wear resistance and load-bearing capacity, unlike worn bearings which can cause excessive crankshaft movement and oil pressure loss. Operators may notice a significant drop in oil pressure, knocking sounds from the engine, or a general loss of engine power when these bearings fail.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The first indication of main bearing failure is often a significant and persistent drop in oil pressure, especially at operating temperature. This can progress to audible knocking or rumbling noises from the engine's lower end. Continued operation risks catastrophic engine damage due to crankshaft seizure and severe wear on journals.

Installation Tip

Ensure the crankshaft journals and bearing surfaces are meticulously cleaned and inspected for any imperfections before installation. Never reuse old bearing bolts; always use new, properly torqued bolts.

Service Note

Inspect the crankshaft journals for scoring or out-of-roundness, and replace the oil pump and oil filter when installing new main bearings.
