CATBearing & Bushing

3537430 Main Bearing Kit — Cat 206 212

This is a complete set of main bearings designed to support the crankshaft within the engine block, crucial for maintaining proper crankshaft alignment and reducing friction. Manufactured to meet OEM material and dimensional standards, it ensures consistent performance and durability, unlike worn bearings that allow excessive crankshaft movement. Operators might observe a significant increase in engine noise, particularly a deep knocking sound, and a noticeable loss of oil pressure when this kit fails.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The first indication of main bearing failure is often a deep, rhythmic knocking sound emanating from the engine, which becomes louder with increased RPM. If left unaddressed, this will lead to a rapid increase in crankshaft wear, potential oil starvation to other components, and a significant risk of catastrophic engine damage.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean all crankshaft journals and bearing bores before installing the new bearings to prevent contamination. Ensure the oil holes in the bearings align perfectly with the oil passages in the block and crankshaft.

Service Note

Inspect the crankshaft for any signs of scoring or out-of-roundness on the main journals, and check the oil pump for adequate pressure.
