21530905 Shock Absorber — Volvo FH12 FH16

This is a heavy-duty shock absorber designed to dampen suspension oscillations and maintain tire contact with the road on Volvo FH series trucks. It is built to OEM performance and durability standards, providing superior control compared to a worn unit that has lost its damping fluid or seal integrity. Observable symptoms of a failing shock absorber include excessive bouncing after bumps, uneven tire wear, and a tendency for the vehicle to 'float' or drift.

Installation & Application Notes

Torque all suspension fasteners to specification — under-torque causes wear, over-torque causes fatigue cracking. Replace bushings in pairs. Grease all zerks after fitting. Check alignment after suspension work.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The most common initial symptom of a failing shock absorber is noticeable excessive bouncing of the vehicle after encountering bumps or uneven road surfaces. If ignored, this can lead to a 'floaty' feeling, reduced steering control, and accelerated wear on tires and other suspension components. Continued operation with faulty shocks compromises vehicle stability and braking effectiveness.

Installation Tip

Ensure the mounting bushings are properly aligned before tightening fasteners to prevent premature wear. Do not use power tools to tighten the main mounting nuts, as this can damage the shock absorber body.

Service Note

Inspect the suspension springs, bushings, and mounting hardware for any signs of wear or damage when replacing the shock absorber.
