Failure Symptoms

The most common symptom of a failing shutdown solenoid is the inability to turn the engine off using the ignition key. In some cases, the solenoid may partially stick, leading to intermittent engine stalling or rough running. If the solenoid fails completely in the 'off' position, the engine will not start or will immediately stall.
