Failure Symptoms

Early signs of a failing water pump include a faint whining noise from the front of the engine or a slight coolant smell. Continued operation without a functional water pump can cause severe internal engine component failure due to excessive heat.

Installation Tip

Ensure the mating surface on the engine block is perfectly clean and free of old gasket material before installing the new pump. Do not overtighten the mounting bolts, as this can distort the pump housing and cause leaks.
