Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A degraded filter element may initially manifest as slightly reduced engine performance or a slight increase in oil pressure warning light activity. If left unaddressed, the element can become fully saturated, leading to bypass valve activation and unfiltered oil circulating, causing accelerated internal engine wear. The ultimate consequence is potential damage to engine bearings, crankshaft, and camshaft.

Installation Tip

Always ensure the engine is off and cool before attempting to replace the filter element. Do not reuse the old gasket or O-ring; always install a new one with the new element.

Service Note

When replacing an engine oil filter element, it is advisable to also check the engine oil level and condition, and consider an oil sample analysis.
