Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

An obstructed oil strainer will first present as a slight drop in oil pressure, especially under load. If ignored, the oil pressure may continue to fall, leading to increased friction and heat within the engine. The worst consequence is severe damage to bearings and crankshaft due to insufficient lubrication.

Installation Tip

Ensure the O-ring or gasket surface on the engine block is clean and undamaged before installing the new strainer assembly. Do not overtighten the mounting bolts, as this can distort the housing or damage the threads.
