Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A failing air filter will first present as a gradual decrease in engine power and responsiveness. If ignored, the filter will become increasingly restrictive, leading to higher fuel consumption and excessive black smoke from the exhaust. Ultimately, severe restriction can cause premature engine wear due to ingested contaminants.

Installation Tip

Ensure the air filter housing is completely clean before installing the new element to guarantee a proper seal. Do not overtighten the housing clamps, as this can damage the filter or housing.

Inspect the intake manifold and turbocharger for any signs of oil or soot buildup, which can indicate a failing air filter or other intake system issues.
