Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

Early indicators of a failing oil filter include a slight darkening of the oil or a minor fluctuation in oil pressure readings. If left unaddressed, the filter will clog, potentially causing oil to bypass the filter media, leading to increased engine wear. Continued operation with a compromised filter can result in premature engine component failure.

Installation Tip

Always lubricate the rubber gasket on the new filter with clean engine oil before installation to ensure a proper seal and prevent leaks. Do not overtighten the filter; hand-tighten plus a quarter turn is usually sufficient.

Service Note

Check the engine oil level and condition, and inspect the oil drain plug and gasket during oil filter replacement.
