Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

Installation Tip

Always lubricate the rubber gasket on the new element with clean hydraulic oil before installation to ensure a proper seal. Avoid using tools to tighten the element; hand-tighten only until the gasket contacts the mounting surface, then an additional 3/4 to 1 full turn.

Service Note

When replacing the spin-on element, it is advisable to inspect the hydraulic fluid for signs of wear or contamination and check the condition of the surrounding hoses and fittings.
