Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A failing oil filter may initially cause a slight increase in oil temperature or a faint ticking sound from the engine. Installation Tip

Ensure the engine oil filter mounting surface is clean and free of old gasket material before installing the new filter. Lightly lubricate the rubber gasket on the new filter with clean engine oil before screwing it on.
