Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

Initial signs of a failing filter cartridge include a slight increase in hydraulic system operating temperature and a minor decrease in responsiveness. If ignored, the filter will eventually bypass, allowing contaminants to circulate freely, leading to accelerated wear on pumps, valves, and cylinders.

Installation Tip

Ensure the hydraulic system is clean before opening it to prevent introducing new contaminants. Do not overtighten the filter housing, as this can damage the seal or the housing itself.

Inspect the hydraulic fluid for any unusual discoloration or particulate matter, and check the condition of the hydraulic pump and cylinders.
