Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A clogged primary air filter will initially cause a slight decrease in engine performance and potentially a slight increase in fuel consumption. If left unchecked, the engine may start to run rough, and the secondary filter will clog much faster, leading to significant power loss. Continued operation with a failed primary filter can result in accelerated wear of internal engine components.

Installation Tip

Ensure the sealing surfaces on the filter housing are clean and free of debris before seating the new element. Avoid using excessive force when securing the housing, as this can deform the seal.

Inspect the secondary air filter element and the air intake manifold for any signs of contamination when replacing the primary filter.
