Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A clogged air filter element will initially manifest as a subtle reduction in engine power or a slight increase in fuel consumption. Ensure the air filter housing is completely clean before installing the new element, paying special attention to the sealing surfaces. Never operate the engine without an air filter element installed.

Service Note
