359-9173 Nitrogen Oxide Sensor — Cat C13 C15

This Nitrogen Oxide Sensor (NOx sensor) is a critical component of modern diesel engine emission control systems, measuring the level of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas. Manufactured to meet stringent OEM quality standards, it ensures accurate readings for the engine control module (ECM) to optimize aftertreatment processes, unlike a faulty sensor which can lead to incorrect adjustments. Symptoms of a failing NOx sensor include illuminated check engine lights, reduced engine power, increased emissions, and potential DPF regeneration issues.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The most common initial symptom of a failing NOx sensor is the illumination of the 'Check Engine' or 'Malfunction Indicator Lamp' (MIL) on the dashboard. If ignored, the engine may enter a derated power mode, experience DPF regeneration failures, and emit higher levels of pollutants.

Installation Tip

Ensure the electrical connector is clean and securely attached after installation to prevent communication errors. Do not apply anti-seize compound to the sensor threads unless specifically instructed by the manufacturer, as it can interfere with readings.

Service Note

After replacing a NOx sensor, it is often necessary to clear the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and perform an ECM relearn procedure for the new sensor.
