107-7977-132-2156 24V Alternator — Cat 320B

This 24V alternator is responsible for generating electrical power to charge the battery and supply electricity to the machine's electrical systems while the engine is running. It converts mechanical energy from the engine's rotation into electrical energy, ensuring all electrical components function correctly. A failing alternator may result in dimming lights, a dead battery, or electrical system malfunctions.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The first indication of a problem is often dimming headlights or dashboard lights, or a battery warning light illuminating. If ignored, the battery will eventually discharge completely, leading to a shutdown of the engine and all electrical functions. This can leave the equipment stranded and unable to operate.

Installation Tip

Ensure the drive belt is properly tensioned after installation; a loose belt will cause the alternator to undercharge, while an overly tight belt can damage bearings. Double-check all electrical connections for a secure fit.

Service Note

Inspect the battery terminals and cables for corrosion and ensure the battery itself is holding a charge before replacing the alternator.
