3E7859 Solenoid As- Starter — Cat 120H 120H ES

This starter solenoid acts as an electrical switch, channeling high current from the battery to the starter motor to initiate engine cranking. It is built to meet stringent OEM quality standards, ensuring reliable engagement and disengagement, unlike a worn solenoid that may stick or fail to activate. Operators may experience a clicking sound without the starter motor engaging, slow cranking, or no response at all when attempting to start the engine if this part is defective.

Installation & Application Notes

Disconnect main battery before working on electrical components. Use dielectric grease on all connector pins. Check ground connections — most electrical faults trace to poor grounds. Test with multimeter before installing new parts.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The most common symptom of a failing starter solenoid is a loud click when the key is turned, followed by the starter motor not engaging or turning the engine. If the solenoid partially fails, it might cause slow or intermittent cranking, making it difficult to start the engine. In severe cases, a completely failed solenoid will prevent the starter motor from receiving any power, rendering the machine immobile.

Installation Tip

Ensure the battery terminals are clean and tight before connecting the solenoid's power cables to prevent poor electrical contact. Avoid overtightening the mounting bolts, as this can strip the threads or damage the solenoid housing.

Service Note

When replacing the starter solenoid, inspect the starter motor for wear and test the battery's voltage and cranking amperage.
