1275953 Brush As — Cat 307 311C

This brush assembly is a critical electrical component, typically found in starter motors or alternators, designed to maintain electrical contact with the rotating armature. It is manufactured with high-quality conductive materials to ensure consistent current transfer and minimize wear, unlike worn brushes that can cause intermittent power, arcing, and eventual failure of the electrical unit. Operators may notice a weak or non-existent starter engagement, dimming or flickering lights, or a complete loss of electrical charging when this brush assembly fails.

Installation & Application Notes

Always replace brakes in axle sets. Bed-in new brake pads with 8–10 moderate stops from 40 km/h. Check disc runout with a dial gauge — maximum 0.1 mm. Inspect caliper slides and pistons when replacing pads.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The first indication of a failing brush assembly is often intermittent electrical contact, leading to weak or erratic operation of the starter or alternator. If left unaddressed, the brushes will wear down completely, causing a loss of electrical current and potentially damaging the commutator or armature. This can result in the inability to start the equipment or a failure of the charging system, leading to operational shutdown.

Installation Tip

Ensure the commutator surface is clean and smooth before installing new brushes to prevent premature wear. Avoid bending or damaging the brush springs during installation, as they are critical for maintaining contact pressure.

Service Note

Inspect the commutator for wear or damage, and clean the starter motor or alternator housing when replacing brush assemblies.
