Scania G440 Spare Parts India

Parts guide for Scania G440 LA/LB/HA — DC13 115 engine (Euro 4/5), GRS895R Opticruise gearbox, RS1370A rear axle, and ADR/mining tipper applications.

G440 Configuration Overview

The Scania G-series sits below the R-series in Scania's truck lineup — lower cab, lower center of gravity, preferred for tipper and construction applications in India. The G440 is the dominant variant in Indian mining operations for this reason.

The most common Indian fleet variant is 6×4 rigid with dump body, concentrated in Jharkhand and Odisha mining zones.

DC13 Engine Service Parts

The DC13 115 (Euro 4) and DC13 116 (Euro 5) differ primarily in aftertreatment — the Euro 5 adds SCR/AdBlue dosing. Both share the same block, head, and most consumable parts. Confirm the engine designation from the dataplate before ordering injectors or EGR components.

Coolant filter (if fitted)185652860,000 kmCheck coolant SCA concentration at each change
EGR cooler (DC13 Euro 4)1875545Inspect at 300,000 kmFailure = white smoke + coolant loss into intake
EGR valve (DC13 Euro 4)1750395Clean at 60,000 km; replace if stickingCarbon buildup causes surging and low power
XPI injector1776047Test at 600,000 km2,400 bar; requires Scania service tool for removal

EGR cooler warning: A failed EGR cooler on the DC13 Euro 4 introduces coolant directly into the intake manifold. If white smoke is present and coolant level is dropping without visible external leakage, pressure-test the EGR cooler before touching any other component.

Opticruise GRS895R Gearbox

The GRS895R is a 12-speed manual gearbox controlled by an SMG (Scania Modular Gearbox) electric actuator. Oil capacity is 11.5 L. Specification: Scania STO 2 (API GL-4 equivalent). Change interval: 90,000 km.

Common G440 Opticruise fault codes and their first-line diagnosis:

SDP3 requirement: Clutch actuator replacement on Opticruise requires calibration with Scania SDP3 diagnostic software. A non-calibrated actuator will cause clutch slip and DTC faults within the first 100 km. Do not release the truck without completing the calibration procedure.

Rear Axle RS1370A

Oil capacity is 18 L per axle. Specification: Scania STO 1 (API GL-5, SAE 90). Change interval: 120,000 km under normal conditions — halve this to 60,000 km for overloaded mining tipper operation.

Component Part Number Notes
Axle input shaft seal (pinion seal)334447Replace whenever removing propeller shaft flange — never refit old seal
Wheel hub seal (per side)385714Replace in pairs; inspect hub bore for scoring before fitting
Crown wheel and pinion (ratio 3.70:1)1431584Always replace as matched pair; requires bearing preload setup
Differential bearing kit1756823Replace when fitting new crown wheel and pinion

Crown wheel and pinion replacement requires setting pinion depth shims and bearing preload — this is workshop work, not field work. Incorrect preload setting on the RS1370A causes bearing overheating and axle failure within 20,000 km.

Cooling and Brake System

Coolant pump part number is 1878028. The G440 uses a cartridge-style pump — replace the complete unit on any weep hole seepage; there is no serviceable seal kit. Coolant change interval is 300,000 km using OAT (Organic Acid Technology) coolant — Scania LCF Grade 2 or equivalent.

Brake system runs EBS (Electronic Brake System). Front and rear axle brake linings are 250/90 mm drums, part 1789004 per axle. Check ABS wheel speed sensor air gap at every brake service — specification is 0.8–1.5 mm. Part number is 1430210. EBS modulator valve 1548042 requires calibration with SDP3 after replacement.

Brake lining tip: Indian G440 tippers running over gross weight wear rear brake linings at roughly double the rated rate. Check lining thickness at every 30,000 km on these vehicles, not the standard 60,000 km interval.

India-Specific Notes

G440 mining tippers in Jharkhand commonly run at 38–40 tonne GVW on 31-tonne rated vehicles. This puts severe stress on the RS1370A crown wheel, wheel hub seals, and rear leaf spring bushings (part 1447530). Reduce axle oil change to 60,000 km and inspect wheel hub seals at every tyre rotation.

Opticruise actuator failures spike during monsoon season. The actuator housing grommet in the firewall deteriorates, allowing water ingress that corrodes the motor contacts and causes DTC P00A0. Inspect and re-seal the grommet at pre-monsoon service. Part 1533023 (complete actuator) is strongly recommended as a field spare for any fleet with more than three G440 units — it is the most common cause of unscheduled downtime in Indian conditions.

Recommended field spares per three G440 units: One Opticruise actuator (1533023), one EGR cooler (1875545), one complete fuel filter set (1807019 + 1809007), two wheel hub seals (385714), one pinion seal (334447). These five items cover over 70% of unscheduled stoppages reported by Indian G440 fleets.
