15031197 Impeller — Volvo FH12 FH16

This is a replacement impeller designed to circulate coolant through the engine's cooling system, preventing overheating. Manufactured from durable materials, it ensures efficient fluid movement compared to a worn impeller with eroded or damaged vanes. Operators may notice a significant increase in engine temperature, steam from the engine bay, or a complete loss of coolant circulation if the impeller fails.

Failure Symptoms

The primary symptom of a failing impeller is a noticeable rise in engine coolant temperature, often accompanied by a lack of cabin heat. If left unaddressed, the engine can quickly overheat, leading to severe internal damage and costly repairs. The engine may also shut down due to thermal protection.

Installation Tip

Ensure the new impeller is securely pressed onto the water pump shaft without damaging the vanes. Avoid rotating the shaft by hand before the pump is fully reassembled to prevent seal damage.

Service Note

Replace the thermostat and inspect the radiator and hoses for blockages or leaks when servicing the water pump impeller.
