This 24V battery relay is an electrical switch that controls the flow of high current from the battery to the starter motor and other heavy electrical loads on Volvo excavators. It uses a low-current signal to activate a magnetic switch, protecting the ignition switch and wiring from high amperage, unlike a worn relay that may fail to engage or become stuck open. Operators may experience a complete lack of engine cranking, intermittent starting issues, or the starter motor continuously engaging when this relay fails.

Cross-reference part number with serial number before ordering to confirm fitment. Keep original parts until new ones are confirmed correct. Record part numbers replaced for future reference.
Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.
The most common symptom of a failed battery relay is the inability to crank the engine when the key is turned. Intermittent starting problems or a clicking sound from the relay without engine cranking can also occur. In rare cases, a stuck relay can cause the starter motor to remain engaged after the engine starts, potentially damaging the starter.
Always disconnect the battery cables before replacing the relay to prevent electrical shorts. Ensure the new relay is firmly seated in its socket and the connections are clean and tight.
Inspect the battery terminals for corrosion, check the battery voltage, and examine the starter motor solenoid when troubleshooting or replacing the battery relay.
