Failure Symptoms

The initial sign of a failing steering servo pump is often a noticeable increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. If ignored, the power assist will gradually diminish, making the steering progressively heavier and more difficult to control. Eventually, the operator may lose all power steering assistance, significantly increasing the risk of operator fatigue and control issues during operation.

Installation Tip

Ensure the hydraulic fluid reservoir is completely drained and flushed before installing the new pump to prevent contamination. Avoid overtightening the mounting bolts, as this can distort the pump housing and lead to premature failure.

Service Note

Always inspect the steering fluid for contamination and check the condition of all hydraulic hoses and seals connected to the power steering system when replacing the servo pump.
