Failure Symptoms

The first indication of a failing master cylinder is often a brake pedal that feels soft or spongy, requiring more pressure to achieve normal stopping power. Internal leaks within the cylinder can cause the pedal to slowly sink to the floor when held under pressure. Continued operation with a compromised master cylinder significantly reduces braking effectiveness, posing a serious safety risk.

Installation Tip

Bench bleed the new master cylinder before installation to remove air from the internal passages and ensure proper hydraulic function. Ensure the brake fluid reservoir is filled to the correct level after installation and before operating the brakes.
