Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

An early sign of a failing fuel filter/separator is intermittent engine sputtering or a loss of power, especially under load. If left unaddressed, water contamination can lead to corrosion and damage within the fuel injection system, potentially causing the engine to stall unexpectedly. Continued operation risks significant damage to the fuel pump and injectors.

Installation Tip

Ensure the O-ring seal is properly lubricated with clean diesel fuel before installing the new filter element. Avoid cross-threading the housing when screwing it back into place.

Service Note

Drain any accumulated water from the separator bowl and inspect the fuel lines for leaks or damage during filter replacement.
