Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

Installation Tip

Always apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter before screwing it into place. Ensure the old filter's gasket is removed from the engine mounting surface.

Service Note

When replacing the oil filter, it is standard practice to also perform an engine oil change and check the condition of the oil drain plug and its washer.
