Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A failing long-life fuel filter may initially present as a gradual loss of engine power or slight hesitation when the throttle is applied. If the filter becomes excessively clogged, the engine may start to misfire, idle erratically, and eventually stall. The most critical risk is prolonged operation with a restricted fuel supply, which can lead to fuel pump damage and engine shutdown.

Installation Tip

When installing, ensure the filter is oriented correctly according to any flow direction arrows. Do not reuse old seals or O-rings; always use new ones provided or specified for the filter.

Service Note

When replacing the fuel filter, it is also a good practice to check and drain any accumulated water from the fuel system's water separator.
