Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A blocked inner air filter can initially manifest as a gradual loss of engine power and a slight increase in fuel consumption. If left unaddressed, the engine may struggle to maintain speed, particularly under load, and the check engine light may illuminate due to airflow restrictions. Continued operation with a clogged inner filter can lead to premature wear on engine components due to inadequate air supply.

Installation Tip

Always ensure the outer air filter is removed before attempting to access and replace the inner air filter. Be careful not to damage the sealing surfaces of the air filter housing when installing the new inner filter.

Service Note

When replacing the inner air filter, it is essential to also replace the corresponding outer air filter to maintain the integrity of the two-stage filtration system.
