Failure Symptoms

A compromised fuel filter housing may initially present as a slight fuel smell or minor fuel weeping around the filter area. If the damage progresses, it can lead to more significant fuel leaks, air entering the fuel system, and difficulty in starting or maintaining engine operation. The worst consequence is a potential fire hazard due to fuel leakage.

Installation Tip

Ensure the mounting surface on the engine or bracket is perfectly clean before installing the new housing. Do not overtighten the housing, as this can damage the threads or the sealing surface.

Service Note

Replace the fuel filter element and all associated seals and O-rings whenever the fuel filter housing is replaced.
