Failure Symptoms

The first indication of a failing water pump is often a visible coolant leak from the weep hole or a noticeable whining sound from the pump's bearing. If left unaddressed, the pump's ability to circulate coolant will diminish, leading to progressive engine overheating. Continued operation without adequate cooling can cause severe engine damage, including warped cylinder heads and blown head gaskets.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean the engine block's mounting surface to ensure a perfect seal with the new water pump gasket. Ensure the new pump's impeller is not obstructed and spins freely before final installation.

Service Note

When replacing the water pump, it is highly recommended to also replace the thermostat and inspect the condition of all coolant hoses.
