Failure Symptoms

A failing starter motor may produce a clicking sound without engaging the engine, or crank the engine very slowly. If ignored, the engine may become increasingly difficult to start, eventually failing to crank altogether. This leaves the equipment inoperable and unable to perform its intended tasks.

Installation Tip

Ensure the engine's flywheel ring gear is clean and free of damage before installing the new starter motor. Avoid overtightening the mounting bolts, as this can strip the threads or damage the starter housing.

Inspect the flywheel ring gear for worn or broken teeth and check battery terminals for corrosion and proper voltage.
