Failure Symptoms

The most common symptom of a failing stop solenoid is the inability to shut off the engine using the ignition key. Intermittently, it may also cause the engine to stall unexpectedly or prevent it from starting. If the solenoid fails in the open position, the engine will continue to run even when the ignition is off, posing a safety risk.

Installation Tip

Always disconnect the battery before replacing the solenoid to prevent electrical shorts. Ensure the plunger mechanism moves freely before final installation, as debris can cause it to bind.
