Failure Symptoms

A clogged fuel filter can initially manifest as a slight hesitation during acceleration or a noticeable reduction in engine power under load. If the filter becomes severely restricted, the engine may start to misfire, run rough, or fail to start altogether due to insufficient fuel delivery.

Installation Tip

Ensure the area around the fuel filter housing is clean before removal to prevent dirt from entering the fuel system. Prime the new filter with clean fuel if possible before installation to reduce the amount of air in the system.

Service Note

Inspect the fuel lines for leaks and check the fuel water separator (if equipped) for accumulated water.
