Failure Symptoms

A worn fan belt may initially produce a high-pitched squealing sound, especially when the engine is under load or during cold starts. If left unaddressed, the belt can slip further, leading to overheating due to reduced fan speed and potential loss of battery charging if the alternator is driven by the same belt. A completely failed belt will cause immediate loss of these functions, potentially leading to engine damage.

Installation Tip

Always check the tensioner pulley for proper operation and smooth rotation before installing a new belt. Ensure the belt is correctly seated in all pulley grooves; a misaligned belt will wear prematurely and can slip off.
