Failure Symptoms

The initial symptom of a failing impeller is a noticeable decrease in water flow from the engine's exhaust outlet. If the impeller continues to degrade, the engine temperature gauge will start to rise, indicating overheating. Prolonged operation with a compromised impeller can lead to severe engine damage due to excessive heat.

Installation Tip

Always lubricate the inside of the pump housing and the new impeller with a silicone-based lubricant before installation to prevent damage during initial startup. Ensure the impeller is oriented correctly relative to the drive shaft key.

Service Note

When replacing the raw water impeller, it is advisable to inspect the pump housing for wear or scoring and check the condition of the drive belt.
