Failure Symptoms

A primary symptom of a faulty water temperature sensor is an inaccurate or absent reading on the engine temperature gauge. This can progress to the engine control unit receiving incorrect data, potentially leading to improper fuel mixture or cooling fan operation. The most severe consequence is the engine overheating without an adequate warning, risking internal damage.

Installation Tip

Ensure the engine is completely cool before attempting removal to avoid burns. Apply a small amount of thread sealant to the sensor threads, but avoid getting any sealant into the sensor tip.
