Failure Symptoms

Initial signs of a worn camshaft include a reduction in engine performance, irregular idle, and potentially increased exhaust emissions. As wear progresses, valve lift may become insufficient, leading to poor combustion and difficulty starting. In severe cases, a broken camshaft lobe can cause a complete loss of power on one or more cylinders.
