Failure Symptoms

The first indication of a failing alternator is often a battery warning light illuminating on the dashboard, or a noticeable dimming of headlights and interior lights. If the alternator continues to degrade, the battery will not receive sufficient charge, leading to intermittent engine stalling and eventually a completely dead battery. Continued operation without a functioning alternator will drain the battery completely, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Installation Tip

Ensure the drive belt is properly tensioned after installing the new alternator; a belt that is too loose will slip, and one that is too tight can damage the alternator bearings. Double-check all electrical connections to ensure they are clean and securely fastened.
