Failure Symptoms

A failing brake piston may initially manifest as a soft or spongy brake pedal, requiring more pedal travel to achieve braking. If the piston is leaking, brake fluid may be observed around the caliper, and braking effectiveness will progressively decrease. Continued operation with compromised braking can lead to uncontrolled movement of the machine or inability to stop safely.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean the brake caliper bore before installing the new piston to prevent damage to the seals. Ensure the piston is installed perfectly straight to avoid binding or scoring the bore.
