Failure Symptoms

The initial sign of a failing NOx sensor is often the illumination of the check engine or emissions warning light on the dashboard. If ignored, the engine control unit may compensate with incorrect fuel or exhaust treatment adjustments, leading to reduced engine power and increased fuel consumption. This can ultimately result in the vehicle being unable to operate or failing mandatory emissions inspections.
