Failure Symptoms

The most common initial symptom is the illumination of the airbag warning light on the dashboard. This may be accompanied by intermittent or complete failure of the horn or steering wheel audio/cruise control buttons. If left unaddressed, the airbag system may not deploy correctly in an accident, posing a significant safety risk.

Installation Tip

Before removing the old clock spring, ensure the steering wheel is centered and the wheels are pointing straight ahead; then, carefully align the new unit to this centered position. Never turn the steering wheel more than a few rotations in either direction after installation without the vehicle's electrical system engaged, as this can damage the ribbon cable.

Service Note
