Installation & Application Notes

Always replace brakes in axle sets. Bed-in new brake pads with 8–10 moderate stops from 40 km/h. Check disc runout with a dial gauge — maximum 0.1 mm. Inspect caliper slides and pistons when replacing pads.

Failure Symptoms

Initial symptoms of a failing air brake compressor include a noticeable increase in the time it takes to build air pressure after starting the engine. The compressor may also run continuously without reaching its cut-out pressure, or you might hear unusual noises. If left unaddressed, the system may not maintain adequate air pressure, compromising braking ability and potentially leading to system-wide air leaks.

Installation Tip

Ensure the mounting bracket and drive pulley are clean and free of debris before installation, and verify the drive belt tension is set correctly according to manufacturer specifications. Overtightening the drive belt can damage bearings on both the compressor and the engine.

Service Note

Inspect and clean or replace the air dryer cartridge and check all air lines for leaks when replacing the air brake compressor.
