Failure Symptoms

The first indication of a failing pulley may be a high-pitched squealing noise from the engine bay, especially under load. If ignored, the pulley's bearing can seize or the groove can wear unevenly, causing the drive belt to slip or break. A broken drive belt can lead to a loss of power to critical systems such as the alternator or cooling fan, potentially causing overheating or electrical failure.

Installation Tip

Ensure the new pulley is perfectly aligned with the other pulleys in the drive system before tightening the mounting bolt. Overtightening can damage the pulley's bearing or the shaft it mounts on.

Service Note

Always inspect the condition of the drive belt and tensioner when replacing a pulley.
